Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Giminez Calls For Firing Of Ozzie Guillen

We'll know a lot more about the Ozzie Guillen controversy on Tuesday afternoon when Guillen returns to Miami to address the media and assembled fans during a press conference, but the situation is starting to get a lot worse. The latest twist is in the form of a statement from the mayor of Miami-Dade Carlos Giminez who calls for the Marlins to take "decisive action" against Guillen, according to Hardball Talk.

"I join the rest of our Miami-Dade County community and all freedom-loving people in condemning the statement made by Miami Marlins Manager Ozzie Guillen," Gimenez said in a 5 p.m. statement. "For too long, the Marlins organization has been the source of controversies in our community and I now challenge them to take decisive steps to bring this community back together."

He doesn't specifically say for the Marlins to fire Guillen, but decisive action is pretty transparent. Guillen was supposed to lead the marlins into a new era of Miami baseball, now it looks like he might not make it a full week before the Marlins have to suspend him, or worse.
