Stay connected for news and updates

The Miami Marlins lost a heartbreaker on the road as they fell 3-2 to the Washington Nationals in extra innings.

Washington scored on a Wilson Ramos sacrifice fly to center field and Ian Desmond scored the winning run in the tenth inning at Nationals Park. The loss brings Miami to one game under .500 with a 7-8 record so far in this still very young season.

Edward Mujica (0-1) gets the loss for Miami although starter Anibal Sanchez had a strong outing with seven complete innings despite giving up five hits and two earned runs while striking out eight Washington Nationals batters. Sanchez threw 85 pitches and 59 strikes in the game.

LF Logan Morrison drove in two RBI's for the Marlins in the game and SS Jose Reyes had two hits for Miami as well.
