The Miami Marlins bats came alive in a big five-run fourth inning, which lead to a two-game series split with the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates. After struggling to get timely hits on Monday night, the Fish capitalized in Game 2 behind the continued raking of Hanley Ramirez. The Marlins third baseman had three hits, included two ripped doubles that each knocked in a run. Ramirez opened the scoring in the first inning and then capped off the big fourth inning against Kevin Correia with the Marlins' sixth RBI of the night. Both John Buck and Omar Infante also had two-RBI nights.
Miami starter Josh Johnson overcame some early first inning trouble cruised through a lowly Bucs lineup to wrap up his first win in his past 13 starts. It had been more than one full calendar year but the big righty went seven innings, allowing just six hits while fanning six Pirates.
Miami will now host the Braves for another quick two-game series before starting interleague play this weekend in Cleveland.

On Monday night, the Miami Marlins (18-17) dropped the first game of a two-game weekday series to the Pittsburgh Pirates (17-18) by a final score of 3-2 at Marlins Park. Twenty-four hours later, they hope to salvage the shortened series with a split. Taking the mound for Miami will be Josh Johnson, who has, though, struggled this season. Through seven starts, he's gone 0-3 with a 5.87 ERA.

The Miami Marlins lost their first game of the series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night, and they'll have a pretty good chance to bounce back when they send what should be their best pitcher to the mound on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 pm and you can find the game on Fox Sports Florida.
This would seem like a pretty good time for Josh Johnson to get his first win of the year. Normally I wouldn't think anything of an 0-3 record because there are a lot of other factors that are taken into a pitcher's record, but Johnson's ERA of 5.87 shows that his winless record is not a fluke. Johnson is supposed to be the ace of this staff and they can only play up to their ability if Johnson is at his best. The Pirates aren't a great offensive team, and Johnson might be able to get back on track here.

The Miami Marlins dropped the opener of a quick two-game set on Monday night, losing 3-2 to the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates. The Bucs got an impressive spot start from Brad Lincoln, who gave up just four hits and two runs over six innings. Anibal Sanchez continued his solid season, striking out five and allowing just three earned runs over seven innings. But Pittsburgh got some timely hitting to eke out the one-run victory, with Pedro Alvarez doubling home Andrew McCutchen in the sixth inning for a lead that would hold up over the final four innings.
It was a quiet night for Ozzie Guillen's lineup. Hanley Ramirez took Lincoln deep to left in the first inning to even it up 1-1. Emilio Bonifacio singled home Logan Morrison in the bottom of the fourth but that would be it for Miami, as the offense stalled out against a Pittsburgh team that's struggled mightily to score themselves. The series will wrap up on Tuesday night with Miami looking for a split. Ace Josh Johnson will toe the rubber for the Fish, while Pittsburgh will counter with Kevin Correia.
