The Miami Marlins open a three game series with the Boston Red Sox on Monday. Can the Marlins snap their six-game losing streak?

The Miami Marlins begin a three game series against the Boston Red Sox on Monday night, trying to snap a six game losing streak that has left them five games behind the first place Washington Nationals. It marks the first game that Josh Beckett will pitch against the team he threw two shut outs for in the 2003 postseason, leading the Marlins to their second World Series Championship.

Beckett is currently 4-6 with a 4.04 ERA and is coming off an eight inning performance against the Baltimore Orioles on June 6, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out five in a 2-1 loss.

The Marlins will counter with pitcher Josh Johnson, 3-4 record on the year and a 4.56 ERA. His last start was on June 6 against the Atlanta Braves. Johnson went seven and two-thirds innings, allowing only 2 runs and striking out nine in a 2-1 loss.

The game is scheduled for a 7:10 p.m. start from Marlins Park. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN with local coverage on Fox Sports Florida. Radio coverage will be provided by WAXY 790 AM and WAQI 710 AM.
