Red Sox Vs. Marlins Final Score: Miami Drops Series In 10-2 Loss

The Miami Marlins opened up their three-game series with the Boston Red Sox with a 4-1 victory, but the Fish struggled offensively in the next two games. On Wednesday night, it wasn't just the Marlins offense however that struggled, the pitching did as well.

Marlins starter Ricky Nolasco got knocked around early, lasting just six innings giving up three earned runs and four runs total. Randy Choate was really the pitcher who struggled for Miami however, as Choate gave up four earned runs and wasn't able to even record a single out.

The Marlins offense just couldn't figure out Felix Doubront, as Doubront allowed just three hits in his seven innings of work. The Marlins totaled just four hits total, including a Jose Reyes home run.

Red Sox Vs. Marlins: Miami Desperately Seeking Wins

A stretch of interleague play has done nothing to help revive the struggling Miami Marlins. Boston worked around them in a 2-1 win on Tuesday night, evening the series which concludes on Wednesday night. The loss was Miami's eighth in 11 games this month.

Ricky Nolasco is on the mound for the Marlins on Wednesday, looking to improve on his last outing, a loss to Tampa Bay. The right-hander has a 4.36 ERA in 12 starts this season. He has allowed 10 earned runs in his last three trips to the hill.

Boston will start lefty Felix Doubront who lost his last outing when he gave up six earned runs to Washington. Prior to that, Doubront had not allowed more than two earned runs in five starts.

The game starts at 7:10 p.m. at Marlins Park. Fans can watch the game on Fox Sports Florida.

Red Sox Vs. Marlins Recap: Boston Takes Game 2 In Low-Scoring 2-1 Contest

The Miami Marlins dropped the second game of their interleague series against the Red Sox on Tuesday night in a low-scoring 2-1 affair. It was a relatively quick and uneventful game, with all three runs coming in the seventh inning. Mark Buerhle was solid for Ozzie Guillien, allowing just two runs on five hits. But the Sox strung together four of those five hits in the top of the seventh to put a two-spot on the board. Kelly Shoppach doubled home Will Middlebrooks and Mike Aviles knocked in Shoppach.

The Fish would cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning as Logan Morrison led off with a blast to right. But Boston starter Clay Buchholz was undeterred, and quickly retired the side. Buchholz struck out nine in seven innings of work to snap a four-game game losing streak for Boston. Ricky Nolasco will try to win the series for Miami on Wednesday night.

Red Sox Vs. Marlins: Buehrle Tries To Tie A Major League Record

While it surely seems like a coincidence, Mark Buehrle (5-6, 3.49) will be going for a major-league-record-tying 11th straight win tonight as Marlins take on the Boston Red Sox in Miami. The Marlins (32-29) are in fourth place in the National League East, while the Red Sox (29-32) sit at the bottom of the American League East.

Buehrle leads all pitchers with 24 all-time wins in interleague play, and he's 10-0 with a sub-two ERA in his last 15 interleague starts. Eleven straight interleague wins will tie the record of Kenny Rogers. Clay Buchholz (6-2. 5.77 ERA) will take the mound for Boston. While he struggled to start the season, Buchholz hasn't allowed more than two runs in any of his last three starts.

The game is scheduled to begin at 7:10 p.m. It will be shown on Fox Sports Florida.

Red Sox Vs. Marlins Recap: Miami Opens Series With 4-1 Win

The Miami Marlins opened their series with the Boston Red Sox on Monday night with a 4-1 win at Marlins Park. Boston came into the game fresh off being swept by the Washington Nationals and their woes continued on Monday, with Josh Johnson cruising through seven innings. Johnson struck out seven and allowed just one run on four hits as the Boston lineup scuffled in a quick game. Steve Cishek and Heath Bell kept the Red Sox off the board over the final two innings, with Bell striking out the side in a dominant ninth.

The Fish struck early on offense, battering Josh Beckett in the first inning for three runs. Adrian Gonzalez, who was moved to right field with the DH lost and David Ortiz forced to play first, committed an error on a Logan Morrison double that allowed Giancarlo Stanton to score. Miami pushed the lead to 3-0 on a Gaby Sanchez single that scored Morrison, Catcher John Buck led off the second inning with a single and after a sacrifice by Johnson, he was knocked in by Donovan Solano. Solano had two RBIs on the night and Miami's four runs in the first two innings would be all Johnson needed.

Mark Buerhle will take the ball for Game 2 and try to clinch the series. Clay Buchholz will be on the mound for Boston and try to play the role of streak-stopper.
