The first round pick for the Tampa Bay Rays, Richie Shaffer, has reportedly come to an agreement with the team on his first contract.
I'm told a deal is done between Richie Shaffer and the #Rays. Just hasn't officially signed. Will sign in the $1.7M range #MLBDraft #Clemson

Shaffer, selected with the No. 25 pick in the 2012 MLB Draft, was one of the top batters in college, averaging .336 during his final season at Clemson. He finished his three year career with 30 home runs and a .448 on base percentage.
While Evan Longoria has the third base position locked down for the foreseeable future in Tampa Bay, Shaffer is versatile enough to potentially contribute at first base or right field.
