Marlins Vs. Rockies: Miami Falls Short Despite Nolasco's Complete Game

Ricky Nolasco pitched a complete game and held the streaking Colorado Rockies to just one run through five innings, but it wasn't enough for the Marlins as they lost 5-3, dropping their fourth game in five days.

Nolasco took the mound Thursday after the Marlins stopped their three-game losing streak by topping the Philadelphia Phillies 9-2 on Wednesday. The Marlins looked to be on their way to another victory after taking a 3-1 lead after the top of the sixth inning, but Michael Cuddyer's two-run blast to left field tied the game in the bottom of the frame.

The Rockies took the lead for good in the seventh on the strength of a Josh Rutledge triple.

Rockies starter Alex White was unable to give the Rockies even five innings, but the bullpen stepped up where needed, and reliever Adam Ottavino recorded his fourth victory of the season.

The Rockies and Marlins will face off again tomorrow in the second duel in a four-game set as Wade LeBlanc takes the ball for the Marlins and Jeff Francis gets the call for the Rockies.
