Giancarlo Stanton's Home Run Streak Finally Ends

Giancarlo Stanton's consecutive-game home run streak at Coors Field ended on Sunday. Stanton had hit home runs in each of his first six games at Coors Field. He is the first player in baseball history to hit home runs in his first six games at any ballpark.

Stanton hit three tape-measure home runs in the Marlins' series against the Rockies. No home run traveled less than 450 feet and he recorded the longest home run in Major League Baseball this season with a 494-foot shot. Colorado Rockies manager Jim Tracy was impressed with his performance.

If you make a mistake, there's no ballpark in the American League or National League that will hold him.

Stanton didn't let Sunday's performance drag him down, as he hit a pair of solo home runs on Monday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Whats more impressive about Stanton's home run ability is that he doesn't always swing the hardest on those pitches. Marlins catcher John Buck has talked with Stanton about why he doesn't swing hard all the time.

I've talked to him before, like, ‘Hey, have you ever thought about just really letting loose?' He has told me, ‘I can't swing as hard as I can because I might hurt something.' He said he very rarely ever 100 percent swings hard. That kind of tells you the special freak he really is.

The Marlins play the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night with a first pitch scheduled for 9:40 p.m.
