The Orlando Magic have a new -- and more youthful -- coaching staff, which has made for a noticeable change in tone.
The Orlando Magic have a new coaching staff, led by Jacque Vaughn, who is the youngest head coach in the NBA. Collectively, the new staff is younger than the previous group, and it's brought more enthusiasm to the franchise.
J.J. Redick has noticed the change. "There's definitely a youthful energy," he said.
The Magic parted ways with coach Stan Van Gundy following the 2011-12 season. Orlando finished the year 37-29 and lost in the first round of the playoffs -- it was the second consecutive season in which the Magic were ousted in the first round of the postseason. The team reached the NBA Finals in 2009.
Vaughn was an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs from 2010 to 2012. He was named Orlando's new head coach on July 28.
The Magic resume their preseason schedule on Friday against the Indiana Pacers. Orlando opens its regular season schedule against the Denver Nuggets on Nov. 2.
