Nets top Magic 82-74

After a disastrous first quarter that saw the Orlando Magic fall behind the Brooklyn Nets 35-17, the Magic held the Nets to just 47 points over the next three quarters, but didn't have enough firepower to dis themselves out of that first quarter hole.

With just 2:05 remaining, the Magic cut Brooklyn's lead, which at one time was 22, to just five on a layup by Glen Davis. That was, however, as close as the Magic would get. Poor execution coupled with the inability to knock down a shot in the last two minutes cost the Magic a a chance to get back to .500.

Brooklyn's size was the difference in the game. Center Brook Lopez scored 20 points and power forward Kris Humphries had 14 points and pulled down 21 rebounds. Overall, the Nets outrebounded the Magic 55-41. The Nets also blocked eight Magic shots.

All-star point guard Deron Williams had 17 points, seven assists and and seven rebounds.

Glen Davis had 19 points and 10 rebounds while Arron Afflalo also had 19 points, pulled down seven rebounds and dished out five assists. J.J. Redick, making his first start of the season, had 10 points on just three-of-12 shooting, but continued to show off his playmaking ability, dishing out nine assists.

The Magic will be back in action Tuesday when they host the New York Knicks.
