Orlando's point guard brought four rookies to his house for a department store-style Christmas photo shoot.
Orlando Magic rookies Moe Harkless, DeQuan Jones, Andrew Nicholson and Kyle O'Quinn didn't know exactly what to expect when point guard Jameer Nelson invited them to his house Sunday afternoon. All they knew was that Nelson wanted to do a Christmas-themed photo shoot.
As it turns out, the photos Nelson took are part of a prank he's playing on the four rookies. After making them put on Santa Claus shirts and pose for photos, Nelson says he's got bigger plans for the pictures.
"It's being worked on right now," Nelson told the Orlando Sentinel. "I'm not going to do anything too crazy or make them embarrassed too much. But it will be different. I'm not the Grinch or anything like that. I’m kind of like the black Santa Claus."
The pictures featured the four rookies posing with the Nelson family's Christmas tree, or by a small lake, or even on stepladders, as Nelson arranged them. Jones posted one of the un-doctored photos on Instagram, captioning it, "Happy holidays from the rookies."
While neither Jones nor his fellow first-year teammates know what insidious plans Nelson has for the photos, he does think that Nelson has a career ready to go when he retires from basketball.
"I think he might have a future with taking pictures for, like, Sears or something when it's all over with," Jones said.
