Magic Vs. Pacers: Dwight Howard Seeks Scoring Record As Orlando Takes On Surging Indiana

With eight points against the Pacers on Tuesday, Dwight Howard can become the Magic's all-time leading scorer.

The Orlando Magic scored a franchise-worst 56 points in a 31-point defeat against the Boston Celtics on Monday night, but won't have much time to recover, as they're set to take on the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday. Tipoff is set for 7 Eastern.

Tuesday's game is notable as it presents Dwight Howard an opportunity to pass Nick Anderson on Orlando's career scoring list. The superstar center needs only seven points to tie Anderson's mark of 10,650 points, and eight points to claim the record himself. Over the last four seasons, Howard has averaged 22.4 points per game against Indiana, including four performances of 25 points or more.

Indiana has gotten off to a strong 11-4 start to the 2011/12 season, with the additions of All-Star power forward David West and reserve combo guard George Hill proving to be sound ones. Danny Granger leads the Pacers with 16.1 points per game, but he's one of seven Pacers to average double-figure scoring.

Orlando swept the series from the Pacers, 3-0, in the 2010/11 season, winning by an average of 12.3 points per game. It hopes to hand Indiana its first home loss of the season, as the Pacers have won each of their five games at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
