The Booklyn Nets were hot on the trail of Orlando Magic All-Star center Dwight Howard, even coming close to a four-team trade that would have sent Howard to Brooklyn. One of the players who Orlando would have gotten back in the proposed deal was center Brook Lopez.
Lopez however has now agreed to a four-year, $61 million deal to stay with the Nets, according to a report.

With Lopez signing a max contract, it essentially kills the Dwight Howard-to-Nets deals and rumors, as the Nets cannot deal Lopez now until January 15, 2013 at the earliest. Lopez was the centerpiece in the Nets dealing with Orlando, so it appears if the Magic still want to unload Dwight Howard, it will have to be with another team.
