Blaine Gabbert Thinks He Can Throw A Football Over Mountains

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert has been in the news quite a bit lately, but most of that has been about his play at the quarterback position and a potential challenge from Chad Henne. Gabbert met the media on Tuesday after another day of OTA practices, and decided to let loose a little bit.

Gabbert was asked what he thought about media questioning his ability to throw a football, to which he quipped "I'd like to challenge them to a quarterback competition. Like Uncle Rico." He was then asked if he thought he could throw a football over mountains, once again referencing a character from Napolean Dynamite. Uncle Rico was the main character's uncle, who couldn't get past his glory years of playing high school quarterback, often saying, "I bet I could throw a football over them mountains."

"I could come close I think," Gabbert responded. "Maybe not though, who knows. The air would have to be really thin in Colorado or somewhere."

Dwyane Wade Accuses Pacers Of Excessive Celebration

The Miami Heat lost to the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night, which led to the Pacers celebrating their second-round playoff victory. Completely normal, right?

Not according to Heat star Dwyane Wade, who accused the Pacers of excessive celebration after the game. "I heard they wanted to be like the Dallas Mavericks," Wade said, referencing something Pacers coach Frank Vogel said that was broadcasted during Game 1 of the series. "I saw their little celebration at the end of the game, so I don't know if they expected to win."

Clearly Wade is taking a shot at the Pacers being underdogs, but is Wade just being a poor loser?

Umpire Bill Miller Hit By Beer Leaving Field In Toronto After Rays Defeat Blue Jays

Torontans were an acrimonious bunch on Tuesday night as the Rays completed a two-game sweep of the Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre. First, there was Brett Lawrie, the Toronto third baseman who was tossed in the the bottom of the ninth shortly after striking out against Fernando Rodney. The Rays closer got him looking and Lawrie took umbrage with home plate umpire Bill Miller's call. Ok, he lost hist mind and, with veins bulging from his forehead, slammed his helmet to the ground in the direction of Miller as he went to confront the ump. The helmet ricocheted off the dirt and hit Miller, which will almost surely mean a suspension for young Mr. Lawrie.

Well, Miller didn't get enough for one Toronto fan, who decided to toss his beer at the him as the crew exited the field and made their way into the tunnel and clubhouse.

The game gets a bit physical at times, but clearly West went a little too physical here, delivering a devastating elbow to LeBron's throat. Shockingly, there was no foul called on the play.

VIDEO: Harris English's Errant Tee Shot

Have you ever played any of those Tiger Woods golf games? If so, have you ever hit a spectator in the gallery? We all have, right? When they fall to the ground, it's the funniest thing ever. Well, it's not so funny when it happens in real life. Harris English is a rookie on the PGA Tour, with a win on the Nationwide Tour as an amateur to his credit. English had been playing well in the first two rounds of the 2012 Players Championship, entering Saturday's final round at seven-under par for the tournament, just one shot off the lead. But when English stepped to the first tee box, he drove a shot that smacked a volunteer right in the head. The poor guy immediately crumpled to the ground just like in the video game. It's another classic example of art imitating life.

Shad Khan Contributes $1 Million To Vet Assistance

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan said that he was going to invest in not just the rebirth of the Jaguars as a football franchise, but in Jacksonville as a city. On Friday, Khan and the Jaguars took a step in that direction by donating $1 million o help veterans assimilate back into the community after returning from service.

"In my short time in Jacksonville I have seen the impact and the importance of the military here in this community," Jaguars owner Shahid Khan said in a statement. "We're honored to be able to help support and assist members of the military upon their return. We owe them a debt of gratitude for their loyal and selfless service to protect us and our freedoms, and we hope this commitment will benefit many veterans in their pursuit of training, jobs, housing and quality of life with their families."

Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown announced the commitment on Friday morning at an event about jobs and the economy.
