Citing a source, Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports reported Saturday the North Carolina Tar Heels are "looking into" hiring South Florida Bulls coach Skip Holtz to replace interim coach Everett Withers. Monday afternoon, Holtz addressed those rumors himself, and Greg Auman of the St. Petersburg Times provided a transcript. "I have not talked to anybody about the North Carolina job," Holtz said. "I've got my head in my dungeon here, trying to do what we have to do to find a way to win."

With two games remaining, the Bulls stand at 5-5 (1-4 in Big East play) in 2011, Holtz's second with the team.

Withers has guided the Tar Heels to a 6-5 record this season following his promotion from defensive coordinator; North Carolina fired former coach Butch Davis amid an NCAA investigation into academic misconduct on his squad.

Holtz has spent his last seven years as a head coach at the FBS level, serving the East Carolina Pirates in his five years prior to joining South Florida. His career record stands at 51-37 (.580), with a 2-3 showing in bowl games.
