B.J. Daniels Among USF Bulls Football Captains

Stay connected for news and updates

A University of South Florida Bulls leadership council, made up of players, has voted on the captains for their 2011 football campaign, head coach Skip Holtz announced Wednesday, following practice.

The four captains will be Junior QB B.J. Daniels and seniors CB Quenton Washington, S Jerrell Young, and C Chaz Hine.

This is the first time a Holtz-led team has allowed a non-senior too become a team captain, and Daniels told Adam Adkins of the Tampa Tribune that it is "exciting", saying the honor was "a testament to all the work that I put in all summer, [and] trying to lead by example. I've really been working hard, not trying to be a captain, but trying to be a leader and do things the right way."

Daniels is now in his third year with USF and will be hoping to show he is no longer just a player with untapped potential. If the Bulls hope to contend they will have to rely heavily on Daniels' arm and legs.

The Bulls kick off the 2011 season this Saturday afternoon at Notre Dame.
