Todd Chandler, Bradley Battles Won't Make Trip To Notre Dame

With the USF Bulls heading to South Bend to start off their 2011 season, Coach Skip Holtz will be without two players for the season opener.

Greg Auman of the St. Pete Times reported last night that DT Todd Chandler is academically ineligible and will miss the entire 2011 season. Chandler redshirted in his first year at USF last season and was slated to fill out the rotation at defensive tackle with Luke Sager, Elkino Watson, and Demi Thompson. USF has filed an appeal with hopes of having Chandler play this year, which given USF's success with hardship waivers over the last couple of years might have a chance of being overturned.

The other player not heading up is RB Bradley Battles, who was suspended for two games for the dreaded Violation of Team Rules. Battles wasn't expected to see much playing time on Saturday with Darrell Scott, Demetris Murray, and Marcus Shaw all ahead of Battles on the Depth Chart.

While both weren't expected to start, each were going to help out in someway on Saturday whether on special teams or filling in for a play or two to give our starters a breather.
