2012 NCAA Bracket, USF Vs. Ohio Final Score: Bulls Get Knocked Out By Bobcats, 62-56

The South Florida Bulls and Ohio Bobcats battled through a tough game all night long, with USF holding a 27-21 lead at the half, but the Bobcats weren't going down easy. The teams were tied late into the game when Ohio pulled out to a double-digit lead. The Bulls went on a little run and Victor Rudd Jr. hit a big three-pointer late in the game to put the Bulls down by just three points.

The Bulls next few shots didn't go in as another three-point rimmed out and the Bobcats made their free throws as USF began to foul. The Bobcats held on and make the trip to the Sweet Sixteen winning 62-56. Walter Offutt led Ohio in scoring with 21 points while D.J. Cooper added 19 points as the Bobcats get set to take on North Carolina later in the week.

NCAA Tournament 2012, Ohio Vs. USF Score Update: Bulls Lead 27-23 At The Half

As expected, the Ohio Bobcats and South Florida Bulls are in a defensive struggle, with the Bulls leading 27-23 at halftime.

After a hot start for Ohio, the Bulls were able to put the defensive clamps down on Ohio, as the Bobcats went nearly seven minutes without a basket at one point in the half.

The Bulls have also seen great success inside, with forward Augustus Gilchrist leading the team with eight points and fellow big man Victor Rudd Jr. chiming in with seven points.

For Ohio, they have struggled to put together any offense consistently. Walter Offutt and D.J. Cooper lead with eight points each, and are shooting fairly well from the field. The Bobcats will need to keep getting them the ball if they want to pull the upset.

March Madness 2012, South Florida Vs. Ohio: TV Schedule, Game Time And More

The South Florida Bulls have already made it further that most thought they would, getting set to play in their third game of the 2012 NCAA Tournament after winning a play-in game and their second round matchup with Temple. The Bulls will now get to face off against Ohio, who also won in an upset in the second round, for the right to get to the Elite Eight.

The Ohio Bobcats also pulled an upset in the second round, knocking off Michigan to move on to the Sweet Sixteen. The Bobcats got a big day from D.J. Cooper in the win who picked up 21 points and will look to him again against the Bulls. The Bulls tend to struggle early on and get streaky on offense, so if Ohio can jump out to an early lead they might be able to pull the upset.

NCAA Tournament Bracket 2012, Temple Vs. USF Score: Bulls Move On After Dominating Second Half

The South Florida Bulls are moving to the third round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament with a come-from-behind 58-44 win over the Temple Owls. The Bulls shot nearly 60 percent from the floor in the second half - an incredible turnaround from their 11 percent mark in the first half, where they score only 15 points. USF will now advance in Nashville to face the Ohio Bobcats, who pulled off an improbable upset over No. 4 Michigan.

Anthony Collins and Victor Rudd, Jr. led the second-half attack for Stan Heath's club. Rudd was four of six from behind the arc and finished with 17 points. Collins did his damage getting into the lane, hitting a couple trademark floaters in the paint to match Rudd with 17 of his own. The Bulls have been one of the best defensive teams in the Big East all season and while Temple obviously struggled shooting the ball, the USF pressure was still intense in the second half to make sure the double-digit lead held up.

March Madness 2012, Temple Vs. USF Score Update: Bulls Down Just 4 After Brutal First Half On Offensive End

The South Florida Bulls trail the No. 5 seed Temple Owls by just four points after 20 minutes in Nashville. South Florida went more than 15 minutes without hitting a field goal in a game that has been ugly for both teams on the offensive end of the floor. Both teams combined for just 8 field goals and 34 total points, with the Owls leading 19-14.

The Bulls are an amazing 3 of 27 from the floor, shooting just 11 percent from the field. They finally got into double figures with just over two minutes remaining in the half. Shaun Noriega hit a three-pointer late to actually put the the Bulls within striking distance, despite their anemic offensive output. It can't get much worse for USF from an offensive standpoint, so the Bulls have to feel lucky to still be in it heading to the second half.

March Madness 2012, Temple Vs. USF: Game Time, TV Schedule And More

The South Florida Bulls are playing what is technically a second round game on Friday, but most will likely see their first win over the California Golden Bears as a victory to get them into the tournament, not into the second round. The tournament proper stars in Nashville against the Temple Owls, who won a very competitive Atlantic 10 this season.

It's a classic clash of styles. Temple have talented guards who like to push the pace, while South Florida are a long team that wants to slow the game down. They imposed their style of play on California while scoring at a higher rate than usual, but Temple should provide them with a tougher test.

2012 NCAA Tournament: USF Dominates California 65-54

The South Florida Bulls won their first ever NCAA Tournament game as they beat the California Golden Bears 65-54 in Dayton, Ohio. Victor Rudd led four Bulls in double figures with 15 points, while Anthony Collins chipped in 12, Augustus Gilchrist had 11 poitns, and Jawanza Poland had 10 points off the bench for USF.

The Bulls dominated from the opening tip and raced out to an 18-5 lead within the first eight minutes. Cal had no answer for Anthony Collins early, who sliced the Golden Bears defense for a couple easy baskets. If the lane was clogged, Collins was able to find Gilchrist or Rudd for an open look.

On the other end, Cal couldn't find an open basket. The Bulls suffocating defense held the Golden Bears to only 13 points in the first half, and held them scoreless in the last 8:55 of the first half. The smaller Cal squad could not find any space inside the lane, and when it appeared they had an open look from the perimeter, USF's wings were able to close out quickly to disrupt the shot.

The real question was seeing how much USF was going to win by. The Bulls were up by 23 at the half and stretched the lead to 30 midway through the 2nd. Heath then chose to rest his starters and Cal was able to make a late run to make the score look respectable. Harper Kamp led all scorers with 19 points, while Jorge Gutierrez added 11 points in his final game for the Golden Bears.

USF will next take on the Temple Owls in the Second Round on Friday. Game is scheduled for 9:50 PM and will be held in Nashville, TN.

2012 NCAA Tournament, USF vs. California: Bulls Lead 36-13 At Halftime

What a dominant first half by the South Florida Bulls in their NCAA Tournament first-round game against the California Golden Bears. At halftime, the Bulls are well on their way to their first-ever Tournament win, as they lead Cal 36-13.

USF shot 67% in the first half. Anthony Collins is the leading scorer at the half with 10 points on 5-for-6 shooting, making as many field goals in the first half as the entire California team. Augustus Gilchrist, who struggled late in the season against physical Big East defenses, picked up eight points as he was able to maneuver in the paint. Victor Rudd added seven points, and leads USF with four rebounds.

On the other end of the floor, California shot just 20% from the field (5-for-25). Harper Kamp has seven of Cal's 13 points, but they were all early in the game when he was able to get decent post position on the offensive block. USF held the Bears scoreless for the last nine minutes of the half, while the Bulls were able to extend their large early lead.

California needs to make a dent in this 23-point deficit quickly, because with USF's slow pace, there may not be enough possessions for the Bears to get back in the game otherwise.

NCAA Bracket 2012: South Florida To Play California In First Four Round

After landing the No. 12 seed in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, the South Florida Bulles will be playing fellow 12 seed Cal in the First Four round in Dayton on Wednesday. The Bulls were on the bubble all week but ended up sneaking in and will have a chance to play their way into a first round matchup against Temple on Friday in Nashville

The Bulls finished the season 20-13 overall and 12-6 in the Big East, good enough for a first round bye in the Big East Conference Tournament. Stan Heath's club took care of business against Villanova in their first game at MSG - a win that likely pushed them into the tourney. They then fell to Notre Dame in overtime in their quarterfinal matchup

Click here for a complete printable bracket.

As you would expect with another First Four team, the Cal Golden Bears had to sweat it out all week on the bubble. Mike Montgomery's club was 24-9 overall and finished second in the Pac 12 at 13-5. They were bounced out of the Pac 12 tourney by eventual champion Colorado in an 11-point semifinal loss in Los Angeles. Along with the automatic qualifying Buffaloes, they are the only Pac 12 teams in the dance. They are led by Allen Crabbe and Jorge Gutierrez on the wings, who both average double figures for Montgomery and will matchup well against the length of USF's backcourt.
