The South Florida Bulls will host the Central Florida Golden Knights in the 2012 home opener. This will be the first men's basketball game played at the Sun Dome since renovations were completed.
The South Florida Bulls will play the Central Florida Knights in the first men's basketball game since the completion of $35.2 million renovations to the Sun Dome, on November 10. While an in-state rivalry is a decent way to christen the building after its newest renovations, Ken DeCelles of VooDoo Five finds the opponent puzzling.
Just seems like a bit of a let down considering the way the rest of the non-conference schedule has shaped up this year. UCF is a decent team and all, but you would figure that a bigger team would have been selected to open up the Sun Dome.
Regardless of the opponent choice, the Bulls will be coming off their first NCAA tournament appearance since 1992. There were only four seniors on last year's team, including forward Augustus Gilchrist, but forward Victor Rudd should be improved and ready to lead the team in the 2012-13 season. More of the schedule will be revealed when the matchups are confirmed.
