South Florida wide receiver Sterling Griffin will miss the remainder of the 2012 season following a knee injury suffered Saturday against the Nevada Wolf Pack.

South Florida Bulls head coach Skip Holtz confirmed that junior wide receiver Sterling Griffin is out for the season following a knee injury suffered in South Florida's 32-31 win against the Nevada Wolf Pack on Saturday.

Griffin injured his knee after landing awkwardly following a Wolf Pack pass interference penalty in the second quarter. He was immediately tended to on the sideline and was sent to the locker room shortly thereafter.

This is the third major injury Griffin has suffered in the past three years. He missed the entire 2010 season after dislocating his ankle in offseason workouts, and missed four games in 2011 with a broken foot. Even with his broken foot, Griffin led the Bulls in receptions and receiving yards last season with 43 catches for 530 yards.

After his USF record 12-catch, 191-yard performance against the Wolf Pack, sophomore Andre Davis will be counted on as the Bulls' main receiving threat now that Griffin is out for the season.

According to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times, Griffin will be eligible for a sixth year of eligibility if he desires for the 2014 season.
