Rutgers Vs. USF Score Update: Defenses Strong As Bulls Lead 6-0 After First Quarter

Stay connected for news and updates

In their first Big East conference game of the season, the South Florida Bulls haven't had much in the way of offense through the first quarter, but two field goals from Bulls kicker Maikon Bonani has South Florida ahead of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 6-0.

Both defenses have proven strong, as Rutgers has held South Florida quarterback B.J. Daniels in check. Daniels is just 2-of-5 for the night.

South Florida has kept the Scarlet Knights scoreless through the first period largely as a result of some miscues from Rutgers, including a muffed punt and blocked field goal attempt. On the blocked field goal attempt, the Rutgers holder dislocated his pinky.

Rutgers quarterback Gary Nova is 4-of-5 for 51 yards on the night, and Scarlet Knights tailback Jawan Jamison has 28 yards on eight carries. But the Scarlet Knight attack has been slowed by four penalties committed in the first quarter.
