Two long receptions by South Florida Bulls receivers Andre Davis and Terrence Mitchell highlighted the second quarter for the Bulls, but much of the quarter was lacking for offensive fireworks, as the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and Bulls head into the locker room with USF up 6-3 at halftime.
The action from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay hasn't been the smoothest as both teams have struggled to convert on offensive plays. Rutgers has suffered from seven first-half penalties to go along with a muffed punt and a blocked field goal attempt. But a 52-yard kick from Rutgers true freshman Kyle Federico put the Scarlet Knights on the board before the half ended.
South Florida kicker Maikon Bonani has accounted for all the Bulls' scoring, hitting from 41 and 46 yards out.
Bulls quarterback B.J. Daniels has been held mostly in check, and is 6-of-12 for the night for 126 yards and has been picked once. The interception, seen here, was reviewed and stood, although it appeared the ball may have hit the ground before Rutgers' Brandon Jones had control.
Rutgers quarterback Gary Nova has been efficient, but has been unable to lead the Scarlet Knights on a touchdown drive.
Rutgers running back Jawan Jamison has already carried the ball 18 times, good for 69 yards through the first half.
