With Rutgers and Cincinnati out to a fast start in the Big East, South Florida will have some work to do.

Despite opening their Big East conference schedule with a loss, the South Florida Bulls remain just one game back of the Big East leaders early in the 2012 college football season.

South Florida is joined at 0-1 in early conference play by the Pittsburgh Panthers. Both teams are 2-2 overall in the season's first four weeks. The entire conference is chasing the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and Cincinnati Bearcats, who both earned victories in their conference openers. Rutgers finished the first quarter of the season with a 4-0 record, while the Bearcats have played just two games thus far.

Four of the eight teams in the conference have yet to play a conference game, leaving the race wide open as conference play begins to heat up in the coming weeks.

Here are the complete Big East standings:

Conference Overall
Rutgers 1-0 4-0
Cincinnati 1-0 2-0
Louisville 0-0 4-0
Connecticut 0-0 2-2
Temple 0-0 1-2
Syracuse 0-0 1-3
Pittsburgh 0-1 2-2
South Florida 0-1 2-2
