Remember Bruce Gradkowski? Yeah, that backup quarterback who threw up before his first preseason game? Well, after spending two middling years on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' bench, Gradkowski went to the Browns and then the Oakland Raiders.
He started 11 games his rookie season with the Bucs, despite being a 6th round selection (Tom Brady says, "Hello.") but has since then started combined 9 games in three years -- all of them not exceedingly impressive.
Well, just yesterday, amid the crazy deluge of post-NFL lockout signings, Ohio decided they needed more Bruce in their life. That's right, the Bengals signed ol' Bruce Gradkowski on Wednesday, and with Carson Palmer apparently headed for retirement and rookie Andy Dalton being a rookie, it appears Bruce has the starting job available for the taking.
Granted, starting for a team that's coming off a 4-12 season is not all that exciting, but as someone who's watched Gradkowski's career with a certain partiality, I do hope it goes well for him.
This one's for you Graddawg:
