Buccaneers Trim Roster to 80 Nearly Full Day Before Tuesday Afternoon Deadline

After a busy Monday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are several big steps closer towards establshing which 53 men they will start the 2011 NFL season with. All teams had to trim their rosters down to 80 players by 4 pm EST on Tuesday afternoon, but the Buccaneers wasted no time on Monday releasing 10 players to get in compliance nearly a full day before the daedline. The cuts came in two batches of five. Earlier in the day, WR Aundrae Allison, G Brandon Carter, TE Collin Franklin, WR Jock Sanders and CB Ashton Youboty were released. Later in the afternoon, S Vince Anderson, DE Brandon Gilbeaux, WR Detron Lewis, P Robert Malone and FB Rendrick Taylor met their fate. The biggest surprise to most fans will be the release of Youboty, a free agent acquisition this summer. But when Aqib Talib was not issued a suspension by Roger Goodell, the Buccaneers must have felt that Youboty was no longer needed. The next round of cuts must be in by Saturday afternoon when a final list of 53 men must be decided upon. For more Bucs coverage, check out Bucs Nation for the latest news and ongoing discussion.
