The Tampa Bay Buccaneers thought they found their man but in the end, Oregon coach Chip Kelly elected to remain with the University instead of jumping to the NFL and becoming the next head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“His heart is with college football and Oregon and he’s no longer being considered,’’ Bucs general manager Mark Dominik told the Tampa Bay Times on Monday.
According to several reports, Kelly secretly met with the Glazers, owners of the Bucs and Tampa Bay GM Mark Dominik last week. Sunday night, the news broke that Kelly and the team were finalizing the agreement.
According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, financial considerations were not the reason for Kelly’s change of heart.
