Coach Greg Schiano, Buccaneers Agree On Five-Year Contract, According To Report

More: What do you think of the hire?

Greg Schiano has signed a five-year contract to coach the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, reports Adam Schefter of ESPN. Schiano replaces Raheem Morris, whose tenure in Tampa Bay lasted three seasons. The Bucs fired Morris after his squad closed the 2011 season on a 10-game losing streak and in last place in the NFC South.

Schiano becomes the ninth coach in Buccaneers history, and does so coming off an enormously successful season with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. He led Rutgers to a 9-4 record and a Pinstripe Bowl victory. All told, Schiano's college coaching record stands at 68-67 (.504), but in the last seven seasons, it's 56-33 (.629).

Tampa Bay won't be Schiano's first NFL stop, as he spent time with the Chicago Bears from 1996-98. In his first two seasons with the Bears, he was a defensive assistant, but he earned a promotion to defensive backs coach in his final season in the Windy City.
