Chiefs vs. Buccaneers final score: Tampa Bay topples Kansas City, 38-10

After a quiet first half in Tampa, the Buccaneers brought out all the stops in a second-half onslaught and dominated the Chiefs, 38-10.

Behind a touchdown from Mike Williams, an interception returned for a touchdown by Ronde Barber, two scores from Vincent Jackson and a touchdown from LeGarrette Blount, the Buccaneers' blew open a 7-3 halftime lead and picked up their second win of the season with a complete performance against the lowly Chiefs.

Coming off their bye week, the Bucs blocked a punt, picked off Chiefs starter Brady Quinn twice and piled on 468 yards of total offense en route to their highest scoring total this season and a dominant victory. After Josh Freeman tossed an interception on Tampa bay's first series of the day, the offense hit on all cylinders for the rest of the afternoon, including 328 yards passing and three touchdowns from Freeman.

The Chiefs scored their only touchdown of the day thanks to a blocked punt that was recovered in the end zone midway through the fourth quarter.

Fantasy Studs: Every single Buccaneer, basically. The receiving corps combined for the best fantasy day, with Mike Williams racking up 113 yards and a touchdown and Vincent Jackson grabbing four balls for 66 yards and two scores. Doug Martin also had a nice performance on the ground and with his hands, rushing for 76 yards and catching two passes for 55 yards. The Buccaneers' defense and special teams had a spectacular day as well, blocking a punt, intercepting a pass and returning another interception for a touchdown.

Fantasy Duds: The Chiefs.

Did they cover?: The Bucs easily covered the five point spread.

The 1-5 Chiefs now have an off week while the 2-3 Bucs welcome the division rival Saints to Tampa Bay next Sunday.

Buccaneers vs. Chiefs score: Vincent Jackson strikes, Ronde Barber scores, Tampa Bay leads

It was a close game in Tampa at halftime with the Buccaneers leading the Chiefs by just a 7-3 margin.

But after the third quarter, it wasn't.

The Bucs broke open the game thanks to a touchdown catch from Vincent Jackson and a pick-six from Ronde Barber that made it 21-3 heading into the fourth quarter.

On Tampa Bay's first drive of the second half, Jackson broke open over the middle and shimmied into the end zone for his third touchdown of the year to cap off a four-play, 80-yard drive. Doug Martin had a 42-yard catch and run on a screen pass from Josh Freeman to set up the Jackson score.

The points kept on coming for Tampa when Ronde Barber grabbed his 45th career interception and took it in for a touchdown. Brady Quinn's pass popped up into the air off Dexter McCluster's forearm and into Barber's arms for the easy score.

The pick-six marked Barber's 12th career fumble or interception return touchdown.

Buccaneers vs. Chiefs score: Kansas City cuts Tampa Bay lead to 7-3 at halftime

The first half of Chiefs-Buccaneers looked like it would be characterized by mistakes after a blocked punt and two interceptions in the first quarter, but a 62-yard touchdown pass from Josh Freeman to Mike Williams shook the sleep from both teams and set up a more competitive second quarter.

After the Bucs' scoring strike, the Chiefs rallied with a 15-play, 59-yard drive that trimmed the Buccaneers' lead to 7-3 when Ryan Succop hit a 38-yard field goal.

The Bucs looked to Williams again on the next drive, and he responded with another huge catch for 36 yards, then induced a pass interference penalty to keep the drive rolling. Williams has three catches for 103 yards and one touchdown in the first half.

But even with Williams' efforts, the Tampa Bay drive stalled shortly after they crossed midfield and was left without any points on the board when Connor Barth couldn't convert the 55-yarder, breaking his streak of 25 straight made field goals.

Buccaneers vs. Chiefs score: Josh Freeman finds Mike Williams, Tampa Bay leads Kansas City 7-0

Mike Williams nabbed a 62-yard touchdown pass from Josh Freeman with just seconds left in the first quarter in Tampa to give the Buccaneers an early 7-0 lead over the Chiefs.

The Bucs blocked a punt and intercepted Chiefs fill-in starter Brady Quinn in the first quarter in Tampa but couldn't get onto the scoreboard until Freeman and Williams connected on the long catch-and-run.

After the Chiefs' first drive went three-and-out, Ronde Barber blocked Dustin Colquitt's punt to put the ball in Freeman's hands on the Kansas City 31-yard line, but Justin Houston intercepted Freeman's badly underthrown pass five plays later to give Kansas City the ball right back.

Tampa Bay then snuffed out the Chiefs' drive when Mark Barron got his first career interception. The seventh pick in the 2012 draft went airborne and came down with the ball when Quinn's pass bounced off the hands of tight end Steve Maneri in the red zone.

Buccaneers vs. Chiefs inactives: Michael Smith, Najee Goode, Chris Owusu out for Tampa Bay

The inactive lists for Sunday's game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been released. As many expected after last week's big hit from Haloti Ngata, Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel is going to sit this game out. This will give Brady Quinn a chance to revive his career if he plays well in Cassel's absence.

Other inactive players for the Chiefs: wide receiver Devon Wylie, defensive back Tysyn Hartman, running back Peyton Hillis, defensive end Glenn Dorsey, center Bryan Mattison and linebacker Bryan Kehl.

For Tampa Bay, it's mostly young players on the inactive list. There's rookies Michael Smith, linebacker Najee Goode, Chris Owusu, tight end Danny Noble, cornerback Keith Tandy, second-year offensive lineman Cody Wallace and third-year linebacker Markus White.

The Chiefs are looking for a change of pace after starting the season 1-4. The Bucs are in a similar position. They had last week off, but Tampa hasn't won a game since its season opener against the Carolina Panthers.
