Buccaneers vs. Saints score: Brees, Saints battle back, lead 28-21 at half

Stay connected for news and updates

The Bucs struck first in the first quarter and struck first again in the second quarter, but the Saints rallied back from a 21-7 deficit late in the second quarter to grab a 28-21 lead at halftime.

Tampa Bay surged out to an early 14-7 lead in the first quarter and kept pouring on the points on their first drive of the second quarter when Josh Freeman found Vincent Jackson for a 17-yard score.

The two-touchdown lead wouldn't hold up for long, though. Drew Brees threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Darren Sproles, then found Joseph Morgan for a 48-yard score where Morgan flipped a Bucs' defender onto his head before running into the end zone.

After stopping the Bucs again, Brees found Lance Moore time and again on the next drive before connecting with tight end David Thomas for the touchdown that gave the Saints the lead.
