The Buccaneers will try to stop a five-game losing streak when they take on the NFC-leading Atlanta Falcons Sunday afternoon.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will try to stop their losing streak at five games when they travel to take on the NFC-leading Atlanta Falcons Sunday afternoon at the Georgia Dome.
The Buccaneers will try to avenge a 24-23 Week 12 loss to the Falcons, which saw the Tampa Bay defense give up a late game-winning touchdown to Michael Turner. Josh Freeman threw for 256 yards in the loss and rookie running back Doug Martin rushed for two touchdowns and 50 yards.
After looking like playoff candidates earlier in the year, the Buccaneers have struggled in the last half of the season under new head coach Greg Schiano. Even with their poor run of form as of late, the Buccaneers have improved upon heir 2011 campaign. The Bucs will need more consistent play from quarterback Josh Freeman to compete in Sunday's game and beyond, as Freeman has thrown nine interceptions to just five touchdowns during the slide.
The Falcons, on the other hand, are preparing for a possible long playoff run. Atlanta clinched home-field advantage throughout the playoffs during last week's win against the Detroit Lions. The Falcons could give their starters a rest Sunday as they try to keep everyone healthy for the playoffs.
