Islanders Vs. Lightning: Tim Wallace's Late Goal Gives Tampa Bay 4-3 Win

Tim Wallace's goal with 7:50 left in the game broke a 3-3 tie and gave the Tampa Bay Lightning a 4-3 win over the New York Islanders Saturday night at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

With the score tied 2-2 after the second intermission, the Islanders had taken a 3-2 lead after Matt Moulson scored his 33rd goal of the season just 43 seconds into the third period. The score stayed that way until the 9:08 mark of the period, when Tom Pyatt scored his 11th goal of the season to make the score 3-3 before Wallace finished the job 3:02 later.

Dwayne Roloson was outstanding in net for Tampa Bay, making 34 saves, while Islanders goalie Al Montoya only stopped 22 shots for New York.

Islanders Vs. Lightning: Steven Stamkos Pots Another, But Islanders Rally To Tie Game, 2-2

Steven Stamkos has scored his 52nd goal of the year, but the New York Islanders have tallied two goals of their own, with the result being a 2-2 game after 40 minutes at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

The same combination that put the Lightning up 1-0 doubled their advantage just 1:46 into the second period, as Stamkos tallied his second goal of the night from assists by Martin St. Louis and Teddy Purcell. But the Islanders responded while Brandon Segal was serving a tripping penalty, as Frans Nielsen scored his 15th goal of the season off assists from Matt Moulson and John Tavares to make the score 2-1 to Tampa Bay at the 8:15 mark.

The Islanders tied the score with less than a minute to play, as Kyle Okposo scored his 16th of the season to make the score 2-2, with Josh Bailey and Nielsen providing the assists.

Through two periods, the Islanders are outshooting the Lightning 29-15.

Islanders Vs. Lightning: Steven Stamkos Scores 51st As Lightning Lead 1-0

Steven Stamkos has scored his 51st goal of the NHL season as the Tampa Bay Lightning have taken a 1-0 lead over the New York Islanders after one period of play at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

Stamkos put the Lightning ahead at the 15:49 mark of the first period, with assists from Teddy Purcell and Martin St. Louis.

The goal came very much against the run of play, as the Islanders outshot the Lightning 14-9 in the first period, but Dwayne Roloson was equal to the task, stopping all 14 shots that he faced in the first 20 minutes. Islanders netminder Al Montoya, getting the start in place of Evgeni Nabokov, stopped nine of the ten shots the Lightning threw at him in the first.
