Tampa may not be playing for a playoff spot, but the Rays could spoil Baltimore's hopes of an AL East crown.
Last year Baltimore helped Tampa Bay by beating Boston and punching the Rays' ticket to the postseason on the last day of the regular season. Now the O's are hoping to force a one-game playoff for the AL East title, if they can beat Tampa Wednesday and have the Red Sox beat the Yankees. If that scenario happens, the winner would have home field advantage in a division series, and the loser would play in a winner-take-all one-game playoff on Friday.
All that's left for Tampa is to play spoiler, but closer Fernando Rodney is close to making the record books - Rodney could break the single-season ERA record for a reliever with 50 or more appearances. He passed Dennis Eckersley on Monday night.
Time/Date 7:10 p.m. Wednesday
Location: Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, Fla.
TV: Sun Sports, ESPN2
Radio: WDAE 620, WGES 680
Streaming: MLB.tv
Probable Starters: Chris Tillman (9-2) vs. Jeremy Hellickson (9-11)
