And when I saw outrageous, I mean outrageous. Totally bokers. Out of this world. I mean, for the past few weeks, I've all but worshiped Alex Torres.
That's right, worshiped. Because without Alex Torres's clutch spot start for Jeff Niemann down the stretch in September, the Tampa Bay Rays would never have made the playoffs. It would have been all too easy for the Rays to lose that game, but Torres jumped in after the first inning and threw five shutout innings to lead the Rays to a win. Torres has long been one of the Rays' top pitching prospects, but for him to perform so well in his first extended outing in the majors...that was something else. Absolutely clutch. It saved the Rays' season, and that's no exaggeration.
What, this isn't what you were looking for? Get your mind out of the gutter, people. This Alex Torres is the one you should care about.
