The Zimmer Bear: The Rays Promotion Team Strikes Again

Over the past few years, the Tampa Bay Rays have consistently received praise for having one of the most innovative, creative giveaways during the regular season. From Super Sam Fuld capes to Carlos Pena toothbrush holders, the Rays think outside the box and regularly come up with promos that turn some heads and attract notice.

This isn't to say that the Rays' marketing team as a whole is doing a fantastic job. If you want to critique, there are certainly things the Rays could be doing better -- discount hot dog/beer nights, college nights, etc. -- and they could probably learn something from how the Lightning approach marketing. But when it comes to giveaways, they're at the top of the class.

The Rays released their promotional schedule for the 2012 season yesterday, and this year's top promo is already generating tons of discussion. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you The Zim Bear:
