During batting practice for the Detroit Tigers ahead of Wednesday afternoon's game, Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Jeremy Hellickson was hit in the head with a home run ball. Hellickson was taken to the hospital according to a tweet from Tampa Bay Times writer Marc Topkin.

Hellickson was throwing a between starts bullpen session when he went down. According to Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon, Hellickson was not bleeding and did not lose consciousness from the impact. He was taken to a nearby hospital for observation and is expected to be okay.
Wednesday's game is scheduled to begin at 1:05 p.m. at Comerica Park in Detroit.
