Joel Peralta Suspended Following Ejection For Pine Tar On Glove Tuesday

Tampa Bay Rays reliever Joel Peralta was ejected on Tuesday for having an excessive amount of pine tar on his glove. Major League Baseball hasn't taken kindly to this transgression, and has slapped Peralta with an eight-game suspension for possession of a foreign substance on his glove, which he will appeal.

Because Peralta is appealing his suspension, it's not going to begin immediately. He'll be able to pitch against the Nationals on Thursday, which could result in some shenanigans.

Peralta is a former member of the Nationals, something Rays manager Joe Maddon is very much aware of. He believes that the Nationals asked umpires to check Peralta's glove because of previous knowledge obtained when he played for them, and used some extremely colorful language when referring to their request for an inspection as a "p---y move".
