Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria has been out of the lineup since May 1 with a torn left hamstring, and there was some concern when Longoria ended his minor league rehab stint back on June 18 as he decided to come back too soon. However, Longoria insists that there was no setback and his rehab is moving forward:
"We're not back to square one by any means," Longoria said. "I've actually been feeling better these past couple days than I had at any point throughout the rehab even when I went out to play. Whatever we got past, we're past it. And I think it's just a matter of fighting the urge to go hard right now and letting it heal up to 100 percent."
There is still no set timetable for when Longoria will return to the Rays lineup, and at this point he wants to be completely healed and not return too early and risk injuring himself further.
