The Indians scored the first five runs of the game over the first five innings thanks to errors by the Rays defense, and three separate RBI hits by Casey Kotchman.
The Rays would cut the deficit to 5-4 when they scored four unearned runs in the top of the sixth thanks to an error by Asdrubal Cabrera with two-outs. After the Indians made the score 6-4 in the bottom of the eighth on a Shin-Soo Choo homer, the Rays went to work in the top of the ninth.
The Rays were able to make a comeback, thanks to a spark from Will Rhymes who led off the ninth with a home run. After a Carlos Pena RBI triple later in the inning tied the game, the Rays took the lead on a Ben Zobrist RBI single.
