The Tampa Bay Rays face the Texas Rangers on Friday to start a three-game weekend series between an AL playoff contender and an AL playoff hopeful.
The Rays begin a three-game home series against the AL West division leading Rangers on Friday as they look to inch closer to the top of the AL Wild Card standings. Tampa Bay is just a game and a half behind the Orioles and Athletics for that position.
These two teams played a little more than a week ago in Arlington, where the Rangers took two of the three games. Tampa is looking for different results as the end of the season is nearer.
Jeremy Hellickson (8-10, 3.41 ERA) will take the mound for Tampa and Derek Holland (10-6, 4.79) gets the start for the Rangers.
