Big East Football Standings 2012: Rutgers, Cincy lead early conference race

South Florida will get a chance to even its Big East record on Saturday against Temple.

A strong start at the top of the Big East standings in 2012 has a real race developing in the conference, as the eight Big East teams begin the heart of their conference schedule in the coming weeks.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Cincinnati Bearcats and Louisville Cardinals are all undefeated overall, while the Scarlet Knights and Bearcats hold undefeated 1-0 records in early season Big East play.

After a bye, the Cardinals will finally get their Big East schedule under way against Pittsburgh on Oct. 13.

South Florida will be looking to bring their Big East record back to .500 against the Temple Owls on Saturday in Temple's first Big East football game after joining the conference in 2012.

Here are the current standings in the eight-team Big East:
