Heat-Magic Exhibition Cancelled

The NBA preseason exhibition game between the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic scheduled for tonight at the St. Pete Times Forum has been cancelled due to unsafe playing conditions.

The basketball court, assembled on top of the ice surface played on by the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning, was deemed too slippery due to condensation forming on the surface. Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy voiced concerns about the situation earlier in the day when his team was unable to practice on the court. Arena staff attempted to fix the problem but some time around 6:30 p.m., NBA referees and officials determined that the court was not suitable and the game was cancelled. It wioll not be re-scheduled.

Information regarding refunds on tickets will be made available soon.
