Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Jerramy Stevens was arrested on felony drug charges Saturday night and did not play in Sunday's win against St. Louis.
According to the St. Petersburg Times, a police sergeant pulled Stevens over just after 7 p.m. at Cypress Street and West Shore Boulevard for loud music. After smelling marijuana coming from the inside of the purple 2006 Ford truck, the sergeant searched it and found 38 grams of marijuana.
Stevens was charged with felony possession of cannabis with intent to sell, felony possession of cannabis and a misdemeanor of possession of drug paraphernalia. He posted a $4,500 bond a few hours later and was released.
This was not the first brush with the law for Stevens. The tight end has been arrested several times as far back as 1998. Stevens also missed the first two games of the 2008 season for violating the National Football League's substance abuse policy.
Stevens, who had played in all five games this season, did not play in Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams in light of the arrest and may have played his last snap as a Buccaneer.
The 30-year-old has caught three passes for 43 yards this season.
