Southern Miss Accepts Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl Bid

Southern Mississippi will be heading south to Florida and into the 2010 Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl St. Petersburg as the Conference USA representative after accepting a bid on Nov. 30. The Golden Eagles finished as the runner-up in Conference USA's East division and ended with an 8-4 regular season record.

"Fans are going to see a tradition-rich Southern Miss program that can stack up the yards and light up the scoreboard," said BOB Bowl Executive Director Brett Dulaney in a press release. "Coach Larry Fedora and his staff have their team on a roll with at least 40 points in seven of their final eight games. Regardless of who the Golden Eagles face from the BIG EAST, the matchup promises to have fans on the edge of their seats."

Southern Miss will face a still-to-be determined opponent from the BIG EAST.  The way that league is shaking out it could be any number of teams. Five of the eight BIG EAST teams remain alive in the hunt for at least a share of the 2010 conference title, and three remain alive in their pursuit of the BIG EAST’s Bowl Championship Series bid.

The opponent will not be known until Dec. 5 at the earliest, but the most common projected opponent is your South Florida Bulls.

The Beef 'O' Brady's St. Petersburg Bowl will take place on Dec. 21 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.
