First Bucs Game Blacked Out

For the first time in the history of Raymond Jones Stadium, not enough tickets have been sold to avoid a television blackout in the Tampa Bay area. Thankfully, it’s just the Bucs’ home opener against the Chiefs on Saturday that won’t be televised rather than a regular season game. Bucs’ fans will survive. But if this becomes a trend during the regular season, plenty of pigskin fans around the area are going to be mighty disappointed about not being able to regularly tune in to watch their favorite team try to get back to respectability in 2010.

“We’ve redoubled our efforts to stay connected with our fans through free events and more affordable seating options,” said Jonathan Grella, director of communications for the Buccaneers. “We understand that families are struggling these days, so whether they can make it out to the games or not, we know they are still Bucs fans and we love them for it.”
