Rays, Yanks Separated By 1/2 Game, Go Head-To-Head This Week

The Rays were just three outs away from taking over first place in the AL East with Rafael Soriano on the mound, as close to a sure thing as you’re liable to find in baseball this year. Unfortunately, the Blue Jays’ Adam Lind didn’t know that and he hit a two run homer to give the Jays the 5-4 win. So instead, the Rays and Yankees will settle the matter among themselves (at least temporarily) in a three game series starting Monday at Tropicana Field.
The Yankees kept things interesting, losing to Texas 4-1. Wildcard longshots Boston and Chicago both helped their causes by winning 5-3 and 12-6 respectively.

MAGIC NUMBERS:

Rays: Wild Card = 13, Division = 21

Yankees: Wild Card = 12, Division = 20
