Steelers At Bucs: Charlie Batch Will Start

TAMPA - Mike Tomlin has named Charlie Batch the starter for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers in Tampa. Batch will be making his first start of the season. Byron Leftwich, who is recovering from a sprained MCL, was considered the favorite to start but despite participating fully in practice will back up Batch.

Dennis Dixon started the Steelers' first two games but left last Sunday's contest with the Titans after tearing his lateral meniscus. Dixon underwent surgery on his injured knee today and is expected to miss three to six weeks.

This will be seen as good news for the Buccaneers as Charlie Batch was just 5 for 11 with a paltry 25 yards passing in relief of Dixon last Sunday against Tennessee.
