Rays Finally Break Out In Bronx

Bronx, NY (Sports Network) – Carl Crawford and Evan Longoria hit consecutive homers off Chad Gaudin in the seventh inning, helping Tampa Bay to a 7-2 win over the Yankees, trimming New York’s lead in the AL East to 1 1/2 games.

Crawford and Longoria each knocked in two runs, and Dan Johnson clubbed a solo homer for the Rays, who lost the first two contests of this four-game series. Despite this, the Rays have the opportunity to leave the Bronx with a half- game deficit if they can win Thursday night’s monster pitching matchup between David Price (17-6) and New York’s CC Sabathia (20-6).
