I have a confession.
↵I didn't watch the last two games of the Rays/Orioles series. Shhhh...
↵Does that make me a bad fan? No.
↵Just a saner one.
↵Suffice it to say, it was not a good trip to Camden Yards. Not for the team with the best road record in baseball who is right in the middle of a constantly evolving pennant race.
↵I watched both Saturday's and Sunday's games unfold via Twitter while doing other things. The comments of my Tweeting comrades were enough to keep me informed about what was happening on the field. I know about the highlights -- Rocco! HR! -- and the lowlights -- errors and bullpen misfortune. I was glad for the time away from the nuances of watching a game unfold. Frankly, my Gators game on Saturday provided me with plenty of sports drama for the weekend. I'd run out of profanity and angst after watching them play. And for a girl who gets completely invested in a game even watching at home, that's important.
↵Today it's Boston. In Boston. Enough said. I don't know if that mental pfaff of looking ahead to the next opponent applies to baseball, given the sheer volume of games in a season. But it sure seemed like the Rays might have been entertaining a little of that mindset.
↵I'm ready to go again after my little break -- ready to watch my team do what they do best. Here's hoping they're ready to meet the challenge. Full speed ahead, gents. If this season is going to extend past September, it's not just critical, it's necessary.
