James Hamilton, a defensive tackle prospect who had formerly committed to play for Florida State, has switched his allegiance to South Florida, according to Josh Newberg of Bulls247. This is a pretty big pickup for the Bulls because they didn't have a single defensive tackle in their class up until now, and Hamilton might just be talented enough to start right from the get-go.
Reaction from both Tomahawk Nation and Voodoo Five is below the jump.
First, the victors, so to speak.
The 6'4", 335 lb Hamilton fills a huge need for us at DT, and with his size and strength could come in and play from Day 1 here in Tampa. USF will have Elkino Watson and Cory Grissom entrenched as starters at tackle, but Hamilton will have a chance to battle Luke Sager, Demi Thompson, Todd Chandler, and Marquis White for a spot on the rotation.
Now Tomahawk Nation, which doesn't seem to be too broken up about the whole thing.
There is no doubt that FSU liked Hamilton. He was extremely impressive at FSU's camp, and FSU was one of the first schools to identify and offer him at the defensive tackle position. But FSU was not blindsided by this in the slightest. In fact, many expected that Hamilton might switch.
