49ers vs. Buccaneers: Niners Jump on Slumbering Bucs Defense, Lead 14-3 early in the 2nd Quarter

The San Francisco 49ers are off to a terrific start as their quarterback Alex Smith is hotter than a match, hitting Delanie Walker on 26 yard score to give the Niners an early lead.

Freeman and the Bucs would answer with a 13 play 74 yard drive that would stall and the Bucs had to settle for a 24 yard field goal to pull within 7-3.

The Niners marched right back down the field but with 0:12 seconds left in the first quarter, Frank Gore fumbled at the Bucs’ 11 yard line, which was recovered by Tampa Bay’s Mason Foster.

On the first play of the second quarter, Carlos Rogers intercepted Freeman and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown.

San Francisco lead 14 -3 with 14:39 left in the first half.

Injury note: Gerald McCoy was carted to the locker room with what is believe to be a leg injury.
